You Really Got Me. First song of theirs I ever heard. I had never heard the Kinks version before the VH version and still love the VH version way better.

The Kinks version is better. Much more raw. The VH version is over-produced.

And Jimmy Page played lead on the Kinks version.

SPOILERNo, he did not. It was Dave Davies.

This is a difficult question to answer. I've got memories tied to so many of their songs that it's difficult to choose just one fave.

If have to pick one, maybe Runnin' With The Devil. What an introduction to that band. The visceral feeling I got with the way they kicked off that album.

Close behind are Ice Cream Man (love that solo), Dance the Night Away, ...And The Cradle Will Rock. Too many to name.

Ed died. That's why they called it quits.

I've seen a lot of people on youtube play that solo and no one can make it sound like Ed did.

He didn't want to be credited on the song and actually thought that no one would ever know he played on it. Idk how he thought since he has such a unique playing style. How could one listen to that and not realize it's Ed?

The Kinks song Page played lead on was a "I'm a Lover, Not a Fighter" which is extremely underrated.

MJ loved great guitar players, among other things.

                                                    interesting sammy hagar article....

Former Van Halen lead singer Sammy Hagar shared his thoughts on the key to the band's massive success. He reflected on the strong bond he formed with guitarist Eddie Van Halen.

I think Sammy's probably a better hang but I liked VH better with Dave. But I would not wanna hang with Dave. He seems like a lot. It would be tiring.

People always think of Ed as a shredder but really, he wasn't. He played with a ton of feeling more than a ton of notes.
