Didn't want to derail the teacher walkout thread, but wanted some clarity on the Yukon schools/Sysco settlement. From what I understand, Yukon schools claimed Sysco overcharged by $750K. Sysco wrote a check for $500K (did not admit any wrongdoing). Yukon schools gets $272K, lawyers get the rest (and I think the company that found the issue gets a piece of the pie). My question is, who was supposed to keep track of this? Who let Sysco overcharge? Doesn't spending require approval by someone in administrative leadership?
I want our teachers and support staff taken care of, but I sure don't want to throw good money after bad.

Lax procedures. They should have trained people looking at all invoices above a certain amount, or in aggregate if you have a vendor that is repeatedly invoicing you for small amounts.

Cool, I visited there. Was stationed at Misawa (down to them but up north to us Yankees). In Japan north is not “up” and south is not “down”. Everything to them is based on Mt Fuji and that is the top of their world. Also, Americans have to take extensive driving class over there. In any accident every driver is at minimum 25% at fault and it goes from there who gets most of blame. In their world had you not been there the accident never happensso you are at least 25%. And all Americans have an “Y” on the left of their license plate to signify American.

I placed a child with a couple of CMSgts in Misawa about 10 years ago. Good people. I only got to fly to Washington to transfer him to them, but they sent lots of pics and videos for about a year afterward.
