In all seriousness, these barriers were broken already. I’m tired of the “first what the fuck ever” to work the concession stand on a Tuesday! Announcements. It’s ridiculous. Nobody really cares except the disingenuous people that market this crap to get clicks or try to increase their ratings.
Nobody cares about your sexual orientation. Your race, sex, any other identifier shouldn’t matter anymore. Your job should be about the work and nothing else. I don’t give a shit if you’re gay or straight or LBQRST. Go to work and do your job. The rest is irrelevant.
There is always going to be the 1% of small minded people that are bigots, racists, hateful people. But the other 99% doesn’t care and just wants you to do your job and shut up about it, just like the rest of us do every day.

edit: and since "a lot" is pretty fuzzy, I'd say that it wouldn't surprise me if the percentage of gay men in the NFL were over a of magnitude lower than in the population at large.

But some of that is due to the culture inside the game discouraging players from participating at an early age, so there is a feedback loop. I'd bet real money that in 10 years we'll hear from some high profile players at the CFB level that Nassib coming out was the reason they decided to play. Warren Moon's comment said he knew a couple of players on his teams that suffered in silence. There are several that have come out since retiring from the game. But I think the number is irrelevant - there are some and have always been some.
That is totally something I dont get about the “it’s a choice crowd.” Because they are saying they could’ve just as easily been homo had they mad different choices. He

I'm sure I still can't really understand it, but this shoe-on-the-other-foot scenario helps me. Us hets never have to give such things a second thought.
