That was probably me yelling while listening in from my truck down here in San Antonio…I was loud enough to hear in Norman.

                    • The awesome thing about this game is that we had our worst defensive performance in recent memory, yet we won by seven. You know Gasso will be chewing on them in her own way and come out tomorrow with fire in their eyes.

Gotta give props to Jordy. Not necessarily as sharp as she has been at other times this season, but got clutch outs and stood up even when her defense failed. Great win for rather unusual reasons.

                        • Clemson's gotta be worried. OU played one of their worst, if not the worst, games of the season defensively, and still won by 7. Tigers could've gotten a key hit and it might have been different, but OU should feast on their pitching tomorrow.

EDIT: Typed this before seeing SoonerDave's post above.

The real issue for Clemson now is we blistered their ace, and they do not have great depth at P. She's thrown something like 200+ innings for them. That defensive showing for OU is gonna light a fire under them and I expect the Sooners to come out with fire in their eyes tomorrow.

No kidding. The first couple of innings were far from smooth on the defensive side of things.

100% correct. She had a tough hop to grab and missed it. The second one was a much easier play and she got an error for it.

She is a step up from prior years defensively. Johns was a good player with some timely hits, the throws when off platform, ACKKKKK. Brito has yet to throw the ball on the wrong side of the foul line on a short ball all year from what I recall. Not a single ball thrown into the right field corner on the foul side of first base on a bunt or squib shot. She is flat out quicker to the spot than JJ was and it shows in her results. I'll take that and her bat every time.

The entire defense looked tight as a wound rubber band. Grace missed a couple that we are used to seeing her vacuum up. The play at second where G3 and TJ both looked at it go by. JMO, TJ should have been on that based upon where the ball was coming through. Ball on her side of the bag. She could get the lead runner stepping on the bag with her momentum headed that way. Grace grabs it, tight quarters for a flip and only sure play is to first.

Just a bad defensive game. If the same stuff happens tomorrow, then a bit of concern should be warranted.

And FIAR Patty for that bad Defense today.

Most likely it was the 7 ER runs she gave up.

There is a reason Sydney was not mentioned. That commentary was for the ones that yearn for the return of JJ or dis on Brito.

Sorry, JJ was a big step down from SR and AB is a step back up from JJ.

Yea, Plank was saying Cagle looked to the Clemson dugout almost in exasperation and frustration (or something like that)…..I figured it was more of a dislike of pitch calls that put her in an 0-3 count than anything else.

She then quickly got lit the fuck up on the grand slam and pulled, so it didn’t matter.

But after she gave up a string of hits on pitches close enough to hit, they probably felt they had no choice but to change up pitch calls and work around the plate…hoping OU would chase pitches. Didn’t work…and Cagle was miffed..that was my take. Cagle, is a competitor and probably wanted to continue to challenge OU batters.

This is what I thought too…and the decision to bring in Storako was likely to get her a few non-pressure innings after a shaky 3rd inning last game. Patty is playing chess.

Radio said almost exactly that. Said Storako had a shaky warmup, too, so it was really good to see Bahl get challenged and get critical strikeouts, and Storako come in and calmly get the last two outs on something like five pitches. We will need all three steady and ready here on out.

                                                      • I’ve seen OU teams sleepwalk through a few innings on offense and come to life the third time around. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen one be that sloppy in all phases for 4.5 innings. Clemson’s go-ahead run was at the plate in the 5th, right? And then four batters later it’s just over.

I assume Clemson has to try to throw Cagle again. She was very good the first couple times through the lineup, but I don’t know how she can keep them in a game for a full 7 innings if some of the biggest hitters are keyed in on her drop ball.

We’ll go to Nicole, right? Jordy was clutch when she had to be but also got knocked around a little more than she’s used to.

Clemson’s got a pitcher with a lower ERA than Cagle, but she’s a sophomore and didn’t throw half as many innings this season. I would think you have to go down with your ace but it shouldn’t matter what they do. Their chance to steal a game was yesterday.
