For the moment, OU's offer list per 247 is actually manageable to post here.

            QB Malachi Nelson, 6'3"/180, CA

RB Rueben Owens, 5'11"/187, El Campo, TX (southeast)

WR Keep your politics off the board Inniss, 5'11"/179, Miami, FL
WR Zachariah Branch, 5'8"/161, Bishop Gorman
WR DeAndre Moore, 5'11"/180, Las Vegas, NV
WR Jalen Hale, 6'3"/175, Longview, TX (northeast)

TE Jaden Greathouse, 6'2"/206, Austin, TX
TE Luke Hasz, 6'4"/218, Bixby (Anyone want to talk about OU paying attention in state? First I've heard of this grown man sophomore)

OT Payton Kirkland, 6'7"/315 (!), Orlando, FL
OT Francis Mauigoa, 6'5"/285, American Samoa (I'd recruit him too if it involved a home visit)
OT Aidan Leigh, 6'4"/225, VA LOL
            OG Knijeah Harris, 6'3"/305, IMG
OG TJ Shanahan, 6'4"/300, Orlando, FL

            SDE Peter Woods, 6'4"/250, AL
SDE David Hicks, 6'3"/245, Katy, TX
            SDE Lebbeus Overton, 6'3.5"/243, GA

ILB Anthony Hill, 6'2"/220, Denton, TX (teammate of Billy Bowman and Bear Alexander)
            OLB Malik Bryant, 6'3"/220, IMG

            CB Tony Mitchell, 6'2"/180, AL
CB Braxton Myers, 6'0.5"/176, Plano, TX
CB Sharif Denson, 5'10"/160, Jacksonville, FL
CB Deldrick Madison, 6'0"/170, Duncanville, TX

            S Rahmir Stewart, 6'0"/195, Philadelphia
            S Braylon Johnson, 6'1"/160, VA

ATH Treyaun Webb, 6'0"/188, Jacksonville, FL
            ATH Jaxon Howard, 6'4"/225, MN
            ATH Jacobe Johnson, 6'3"/183, Mustang

I assume 247 is not up to date if we have kids not on the list tweeting OU in their top 10, so add as needed.

Just want this out there before people are debating it in two years:

OU took too long to get to Josh Jacobs, in part because of their own issues, in part because he didn't really do anything to get his name out there. OU offered before Bama, but he just wanted to get out of the state.

He is a great player, we should've offered sooner, we didn't, OU continues to compete in college football

The state of Oklahoma has put out some really good TEs lately. Maybe we should take one?

Riley is careful not to make offers in the state unless the kid can commit on the spot. I'm pretty sure Hasz is a take. No idea of the level of interest on his part.

Sooners Standing Out Early to 2023 Longview WR Jalen Hale
                                – CJ Vogel

This weekend I was able to hit up the Sky’s The Limit WR workout at Sports Academy at the Star in Frisco. There were some studs in attendance, including 2023 Longview WR Jalen Hale who I was able to catchup with after the workout to get an update on his recruitment.

                                https://twitter.com/CJVogel_TFB/status/

Hale is coming off a sophomore campaign where he hauled in 37 receptions for 652 yards and 9 touchdowns according to MaxPreps. While he is currently in basketball right now, his recruitment on the gridiron has really popped recently.

“It’s a blessing,” Hale said. “Things are going well and I am enjoying it.”

Hale has 16 reported offers according to his Twitter. Oklahoma got in the mix just over a month ago on January 13, but has quickly ascended to the top of his interest list due to constant communication.

Hale mentioned that there are three schools he is hearing from the most right now – OU, Texas and TCU.

“I have a good relationship (with the OU staff),” Hale said. “I talk with them once a week, twice a week. We got on a Zoom call with them and did a virtual visit recently.”

He added that he was able to see the weight rooms and locker room on the virtual visit and hopes to have another soon.

Hale told me he talks most with WR coaches Cale Gundy and Dennis Simmons the most and described his relationship with them as “real close.” As for head coach Lincoln Riley, the relationship is still in the early stages. Hale said he has talked with the head man only a few times but likes what he is hearing.

“I like their receivers – Marvin Mims, Trejan Bridges. I like how their receivers play. They have a good receiving corps.”

As y’all are very much aware of, Oklahoma gets their playmakers involved and involved often. That has caught the attention of Hale early on, who is very high on the idea of being a big part of the offense in college. “I’m trying to make plays too. That’s why I am going to commit to a school where I feel like it’s the best fit for me.”

While it is still early for Hale in his recruitment, he was quick to give credit to the Sooners when asked which staff he is in contact with the most.

                                My Take

2023’s are still a long way away, but Hale is going to be one of the best pass catchers in the state of Texas for his class and establishing a relationship early is huge. The Sooners are off to a phenomenal start in this recruitment. Being able to get him on a second virtual visit will go a long way with no other school having done a single one with him yet.

Again, with things being so early in the recruitment, I don’t want to peg anyone a leader or consider a prospect a shoe-in to a specific school, but the Sooners really have to like where things are standing at the moment with the East Texas star.

With an offer to ATH Makai Lemon, Lincoln Riley is in pursuit of elite QB/WR teammates

Lemon's quarterback at Los Alamitos is Malachi Nelson, who got an offer from OU last monthJOHN E. HOOVER48 MINUTES AGO
Lincoln Riley always has an eye on the future.

With the top quarterback prospect in the nation in two of the last three recruiting classes already in his pocket and a recent haul of receivers that would rival any in college football recruiting history, Riley has turned his attention to the class of 2023.

A month ago, Riley offered a scholarship to 2023 quarterback Malachi Nelson of Los Alamitos, CA.

Now Riley and assistant head coach Dennis Simmons have offered Nelson’s top receiving target at Los Alamitos in wide receiver/athlete prospect Makai Lemon.

Lemon is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound receiver with offers from Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan State, Oregon State, Penn State, Tennessee, USC and Utah — and now Oklahoma. He also recently visited Clemson.

As a freshman at La Mirada in 2019, Lemon caught 57 passes for 784 yards and five touchdowns (he also had four interceptions on defense). Lemon transferred to Los Alamitos in March 2020 but California didn’t play due to the pandemic.

Lemon is a 4-star prospect, per 247 Sports. He has explosive speed and exceptional footwork, which stands out when he runs routes. His instinct, reaction and change of direction also make him an enticing prospect on defense.

He is close friends with Sooners 2023 priority QB offer Malachi Nelson.

K will have more on this combo down the line, but make no mistake, not only is Lemon an elite athlete who can play either side of the ball, he also figures to be a consideration in Nelsons recruitment.

Looks like Rueben Owens is going to commit to Texas tonight, how did they swing that? Dude was considered an OU lean for quite some time.

Good pick up by that underachieving program in Asstin. I never thought the kid was coming here though regardless of what the 9.95ers were selling. I didn’t see him going to Texass either though. Will be interesting to see just how committed he is moving forward. December 2022 is long time from now.

Yesterday evening, the Sooners did a virtual visit with an incredibly talented 2023 QB and the only OU offer in the 2023 class…

When I saw Malachi recently, I got the vibe that the Sooners stiffest competition in this one would be USC.

I’m told the virtual visit with Lincoln and company went very very well.

I should have more on this soon but the early vibe I got is that Lincoln really knocked this one out of the park.

As Malachi previously told me, Lincoln told Malachi that he only offers quarterbacks that he believes can be first round draft picks and win a Heisman trophy. So, that should tell you how highly Lincoln regards Malachi and from what I saw and what I’ve heard, it is warranted.

Hopefully he'll soon be adding, Winning National Championships to it.

I know lots of us aren't worried about Sark at Texas, but he's definitely taking advantage of the first-year recruiting bump. It's nice having California empty of serious competition, even though USC will always have appeal to West Coast recruits. It sounds like if things stay status quo that OU will have a great shot at Malachi.

Ole Miss: His grandfather went there, his dad went there & his uncle Eli went there.

Tennessee: His uncle Peyton went there & he visits the place often. Also he has the dressing room named after him & his name is in their ring of honor in the stadium.

Duke: the head coach there,(David Cutcliffe), coached both Peyton,(as QB Coach at Tennessee ) & Eli,(Head Coach Ole Miss). Peyton regards him highly.

But, it is interesting that the one program that produced Two Heisman winners,(First time in history that the same school won the award at the same position with different players in consecutive years) & a Runner-Up in three straight years. And, all three are currently starting quarterbacks in the NFL,(Browns, Cardinals & Eagles), but they are not listed in the favorites right now.

                                                                            Comment

"I talk to coach Simmons and coach Riley, and they are great guys. They play young receivers, they give them a chance in their offense, and I like that. They have shown me the facilities and I can't wait to get out there."

And they're both like Rattler in the sense of being officially "pro-style" QBs (whatever that means when you look at current pros) who have at least enough mobility for it to be a factor defenses must address. They're not Kyler or even Jalen as runners who can take over a game on the ground, but they do have to be accounted for. They can get out of the pocket and make great throws on the run, or they can get upfield and usually make the first guy miss. That's a necessity for running a championship offense in the modern era unless you're Alabama and just have the best player in the country at the other 10 positions. I think top programs that build long-term around a statue QB right now are going to pay a price. For example, having seen Clemson's Uiagalelei (?) last year in the ND loss, I think their offense is going to take a hit. I won't stereotype Manning as slow just because he's white (Lawrence and Burrow had more than enough speed) but I've seen enough of Nelson to be all in on him if Riley is too.

The Sooners extended an offer to 2023 offensive lineman Luke Montgomery (6’5″ 260) out of Findlay, OH back on March 2nd.

Oklahoma wasted little time in getting Montgomery on a virtual visit as they hosted him and his family on Tuesday evening.

I caught up with his father, Mike Montgomery, following the visit and he had nothing but rave reviews about the experience.

I asked him what stood out about the visit and Mike said, “Well the facilities are top-notch but, I assume most are. That said, the sincerity of the staff stood out the most…good, honest people.”

Mike mentioned that this was the family’s first virtual visit and they previously didn’t know much about Oklahoma so that made it unique as well.

He did mention that Ty Darlington was part of the visit and they were impressed by everyone they met, but obviously Bedenbaugh and Riley stood out.

Before our conversation ended, Mike mentioned that they ‘have to get out there for sure’.

Luke has yet to play much offensive tackle and he already has quite the robust offer list which includes all the major players in the Big 10 region. One would think Ohio State would be a rather large favorite at this point, but I cannot say that definitively as the process is only beginning for Luke.

He is certainly a young man we will keep an eye on.
