It's a slow time of the year which could be bad for rabid OU football fans, but good for us because we get a breather. We carry on anyway with another podcast featuring the entire gang. We hit on a lot of wide-ranging topics and go a little off-topic at times. But we really dive into the changes to OU's summer camps and the changing landscape of summer recruiting. How do satellite camps figure in and how can OU take advantage of so many changes as they happen. We also talk the latest with the OU baseball team and Bob Przybylo gives an update on hoops recruiting. We talk about the recent history of the defensive line and the future of where the Sooners need to go. Lincoln Riley is set to get a pay raise soon. Where is he going to fall among college football's top coaches? The full rundown follows below:

OPEN - Setting the scene on a dead period for us and what's to come as the summer starts.
0:03:12 - Lincoln Riley needs some momentum in these slow months. He should just take commitments from people with disabilities.

With Mike Holder going public about Mike Gundy's recruiting in Stillwater, we examine how much difference a top 5 class makes versus a top 40 class in major college football. With Lincoln Riley putting Oklahoma into the recruiting conversation with Alabama, Ohio State and few others, how is this going to change Oklahoma football moving forward? There's also some drama going on in the recruiting camp world that the staff is going to be caught up in toward the end of this month. Why are Rivals and Nike fighting over national camps? We also address the latest Rivals rankings and the perception that OU is being screwed over by Rivals as Arjei Henderson lost his fifth star. We also address Spencer Rattler's lack of a fifth star. We also look at the history of it all, and wonder out loud if being the Elite 11 MVP a curse? We also talk about OSU/TCU/Baylor and how the landscape has changed a bit in the region in regards to recruiting.

                  The rundown follows below:

OPEN - Just a month away from Big 12 Media Days in Dallas and the Rivals 5-Star Challenge and The Opening are coming up at the end of the month. Carey kills a metaphor.
0:03:30 - What happened with OU's class in the newest Rivals rankings. Josh mutes himself for the first, but not the last time on this pod.
0:10:10 - Bob breaks down Spencer Rattler not becoming a 5-star with Rivals.
0:11:20 - Is being the Elite 11 MVP a curse?
0:20:00 - Random Cody Thomas conversation which leads into a random cheating discussion.
0:23:36 - Mike Holder stirs up controversy with comments about OSU football recruiting
0:30:50 - Josh was doing calculations during our Mike Holder discussion. He wants you to know Rivals ranks OU people higher than others.

0:38:30 - Why OU's recruiting bump the last two years will matter moving forward.

Atlanta and the Rivals 5-Star Challenge is in the mirror and the entire gang is back to breakdown what we saw in Georgia. It was a weird podcast We were pretty much awful people that deserved to be flogged for some of our hypothetical takes on Big 12 Media Days and potential media stereotypes. Also one of Eddie's takes on Tom Herman was so hot, we had to bleep most of it out. The excitement is building for the #ChampUBBQ at the end of the month and we break down the best case scenario for the Sooners to finish out their recruiting in the secondary. Eddie also crashed the Paul George staying in OKC party this weekend

                          The rundown follows below:

OPEN - Eddie attends the Paul George stays in OKC party while Josh leaves his power chord.

0:14:30 - Trejan Bridges and Theo Wease and their performances in Atlanta.
0:23:50 - Bryce Young was a camp favorite among players, but what did we really see from him as a QB prospect?
0:26:20 - Justin Flowe has major attitude for a 2020 LB and a lot of us really like that
0:31:23 - Does the legalization of marijuana, even medically, help football in the state of Oklahoma
0:33:45 - Some of what we saw from other players on the defensive side of the ball in Atlanta: Elas Ricks and Kelee Ringo
0:37:02 - OL/DL with Stacey Wilkins, Prince Dorbah and Marcus Stripling
0:40:10 - What we saw of Jordan Clark in Atlanta. Where the secondary goes from here in 2019 recruiting
0:46:35 - Should we become a gossip site on the side and go full stupid with Kyler Murray?
0:48:25 - Big 12 Media Days almost on us. Will Kyler Murray just stay at home?

If you are a fan of some hardcore fall camp info, then this is your podcast. The entire newsteam assembles once again to break down what we've learned over the first five days of fall camp. Some of you will be happy to know that we keep the tangents to a minimum until later in the podcast. We just had too much information to get out there. That doesn't mean we don't have fun as Eddie gets triggered over Kyler Murray questions, Caleb Kelly questions and for some reason, Drake Stoops one-handed grabs.

We talk about the secondary battles, the quarterback competition, how Caleb Kelly having a breakthrough season is a must, as well as a defensive line, pass rushers and run stuffers that really haven't gotten much attention since the start of camp. Plus the usual madness during Hard Knocks breakdowns.

                                        The full rundown follows below:

0:11:50 - We keep throwing fire on the Eddie trigger train by bringing up Caleb Kelly's comments on ESPN calling OU overrated.

Game week approaches and OU has named it's starting quarterback from the opener. We talk about Kyler Murray taking over Lincoln Riley's offense. What should we expect? What does this do to Austin Kendall moving forward? Riley says he won't be afraid to use his QB in the run game.

We talk about the start of Baker's OU career and try and see how that tells us about the potential start of Murray's OU career. We also take out some time to talk about the joke of an investigation in Columbus, Ohio. We also take a deep dive into the roster as the first game approaches. Who are players we think could disappoint? Who are players we think could make an impact? Who are we most interested in seeing in week one? We break down all the latest from preseason camp in this edition of the Unofficial 40.

It's the Oklahoma Sooners Postgame Podcast presented by Eskridge Lexus in Oklahoma City. We were once again impressed with the defense, we break down the players of the game and the play of the game. We talk about the Rodney Anderson injury and where the Sooners go from here. We also have plenty of praise for the defense and are completely impressed by the defensive front once again. Kenneth Murray also redeems himself with 9 tackles. Mark Jackson steps up huge and Curtis Bolton is the unquestioned starter at WILL linebacker. We also talk about the offense and we felt a little let down by the offensive line today.

                                                    The full rundown follows below:

It's the first road game of the season and the road crew is getting ready to fly to Iowa. Will the hurricane make it a weekend from hell for our travelers? Obviously we talk a lot about the loss of Rodney Anderson and how this affects the entire running back rotation. We have some bold predictions about what will happen moving forward. Is Trey Sermon really the No. 1 RB this team needs?

We're developing a man crush on Curtis Bolton even though Carey keeps calling him Curtis Lofton. Are we ready to buy in to this being a good defense yet? Is the Big 12 conference less offensive than they've been in recent memory? Lots of love for special teams and Josh and Bob are here for football and basketball recruiting updates.

OPEN - Carey is already concerned about airline travel to Iowa with the hurricane approaching. Eddie might be on a travel ban list pretty soon.

0:11:30 - Curtis Bolton/Curtis Lofton is becoming a problem. Did Kyler Murray deserve to be Big 12 Player of the Week?
0:14:52 - Rodney Anderson is out for the season. What take has been too hot about his injury? Is Trey Sermon the answer as RB1?
0:17:55 - Carey makes a bold prediction about the running back position and the guys agree.
0:26:15 - Spreading the love to Dillon Faamatau

1:25:05 - Eddie reads the letter an Iowa State fan Josh and Carey to complain about his sideline activities back in 2015.
1:31:00 - Final thoughts. It's a road game. Reliving last year's loss one last time.

That was a classic SJW letter.

We hear from Mike Stoops, Curtis Bolton, Trey Sermon and Shane Beamer throughout the show while each member of the staff brings their biggest question marks and concerns heading into the Red River Rivalry. There's plenty of matchups to talk about, there's OU's tackling, the physicality of the secondary, the OU offense versus the Texas defense. Kyler Murray will be the best player on the field, but will that be enough to overcome the lack of established running backs heading into this one? We also hit up the recruiting trail with Josh and give you our players to watch heading into the weekend.

It's been a three-ring circus the last few days in Oklahoma as Mike Stoops even called into local radio to defend himself. We talk about the madness that's been as well as moving forward with Ruffin McNeill and Bob Diaco. Can this defense be fixed? What are our expectations? We also talk with Josh and Bob about how this change is going to affect recruiting.

The gang is all here for another edition of the Choctaw Casino Unofficial 40. We start out discussing Curtis Bolton's first comments since the controversy about halftime and the Cotton Bowl. We're trying really hard to give the defense a chance under Ruffin McNeill. We're giving change a chance even though we don't understand some of the clamoring that out there for certain players to see more time. This is not a team with a lot of quick-twitch pass rushers on the team, so how the hell would they even move to a 4-3 defensive front? We talk about Josh's big trip to Arizona this weekend to see Spencer Rattler as well as what this defense has to do moving forward. We're not asking for or expecting miracles. We're just trying to be realistic. It's going to be interesting to see what, if any, changes are going to take place.

                                                                                              The full rundown is below:

Had never clicked into this thread before. Thought I may find some other pods, but this one is kinda scoop centric.

I started listening to pods this year really, and have tried out several during this season.

Scoop: the most professionally produced and ran pod for OU, outside of the SoonerSports. Scoop is the best, the mix of personalities is good and I get the feeling that their opinions are based on things that they actually know, as opposed to speculation.

Pod on the Prairie: Not bad, probably second to Scoop. Couple of the guys seem to have some sources in the program, though I think they aren't as good about making their opinions based on info they personally sourced. Its hard to explain, but they come across more as guessing sometimes than Scoop. It could be tone. I get frustrated sometimes when the audio levels are not balanced (this isn't just this pod, its pretty much any of them outside of Scoop and Soonersports) and one person is really loud and the other is really soft. Its not too difficult to balance audio, but many don't take the time to do it.

Oklahoma Updated: Good for entertainment, similar to the Pod on the Prairie but with less (seemingly) own sourced content. This is kind of where the line breaks between fan pods and journalist pods to me. This one feels more like a fan pod than the previous two I mentioned.

Sooner Football Fans Pod: Love the guys for their dedication to OU, but had to take them off the playlist. Just the type of football fans I prefer not to listen to honestly. My take on them is that they are followers. If OU is doing it, its good. If OU isn't doing it, its dumb to suggest they do it. Thats fine, its just not what I want to listen to. The final straw for me was after the UT game when idiots were tweeting hate at coaches and players. They talked about how dumb that was, and then proceeded to do that exact thing for the rest of their podcast. Like their pod isn't as accessible as Twitter is. I'm sure they're good peeps, just not my type of football fans.

SoonerSports is good for postgame and coaches shows.

I listen to soonerscoop and sooner football fans. The latter has grown on me. At first I was like you and found it annoying that they spent so much time bashing people on Twitter for bitching about the coaching.

Sometimes it’s just nice to hear a different perspective on things though. Reminds me of how podcasts first started over a decade ago. Just people talking about things they are passionate about. Not everything has to be professional. Never heard of pod on the prairie. Gonna give it a listen. If you want good conversation about CFB in general listen to Campus Conversation. Actual good journalists that actually do their homework.

With the ones mentioned above plus this I pretty much get 8 hours of podcasts a week. Good for all of my driving.
